blogger christmas swap: what i received

So in exchange for the cross-stitched mustaches I sent to my swap partner for the Blogger Christmas Swap in December, I received these goodies from my thoughtful swap partner, Tamera:
Floss and vintage notions
Vintage ribbon with a cross-stitch design
Colorful zipper pouch
Tamera is the lovely gal behind Crank Heart Pony, an Etsy shop filled with handmade bags and excellent vintage finds. I've already started using the pouch to carry all of my pens and pencils, and I'm excited to find a use for the cross-stitch ribbon. Any suggestions on what I should do with it?

sewing project: carolina makeup bag


A while back, I made this roomy makeup bag using the Carolina pattern on Burdastyle.

The pattern was easy to follow and the bag easily accommodates large bottles (shampoo, contact solution, etc.). It turned out to be perfect for our honeymoon.

rebecca cosmetic bag


This is a project that I started and completed a few months ago. I took an old cosmetic bag I had that was falling apart, took the seams out, traced the original fabric, and transferred the pattern onto "new" fabric (the khaki on the exterior is from an old pair of pants).


I used gray and green Amy Butler fabric on the inside and for the exterior strips, and used pink binding tape to hide the zipper's edges.


The zipper is the one from the original bag. I also sewed a "svea" tag to the exterior.
