LMP+QG march challenge: pieced pillow [quilt]

Each month, my friend Kait and I are making a project from the book, Last-Minute Patchwork and Quilted Gifts ("LMP+QG" for short). You can see previous projects here

So for the month of March, Kait and I decided to make the Pieced Pillows from LMP+QG. However, my husband and I already have a number of pillows around our house (see Exhibits A, B and C), so I decided to revise the plan slightly....

quilts for charity

Though these quilts have been done for ages (like, since before I moved to North Carolina), I'm just now getting around to photographing them and sending them off to their new homes. Both quilts are currently on their way to Duke Children's Hospital, where I hope they give some comfort to two children and their families during the holiday season.

{Both quilts were made using this Made by Rae tutorial (a super fast and fun pattern!), from fabric entirely from my stash, including the fun Japanese print on the back of the pink and yellow quilt.}

Remember this stack of fabrics? Using this tutorial, it became this quilt top...

quilt blocks for wrap them in love

A coworker and I are currently working on a quilt top that we will be donating to the charity Wrap Them in Love (I found out about the organization through Sew Mama Sew! back in December). We're working with tan, orange, and teal fabrics which we picked up from Thread-Bare, my favorite local source for inexpensive crafty supplies, and I'm excited to see the quilt take shape.
While the quilt is still in the beginning stages (I'll post pictures of it here when it's done!), I'm also working on a stack of blocks to donate as well, which are pictured here. Each nine-patch square is made from scraps I have in the studio, including vintage sheets and thrifted remnants.

knit a square

Last Tuesday, I attended the monthly Knit for a Cause event with two coworkers (thanks for coming with me, gals!). I haven't knitted for quite a long time (maybe ten years?), so I was definitely in need of a quick tutorial. Once I got started though, I couldn't stop.
This month the group is donating 8" x 8" squares to the charity Knit a Square, which stitches the squares together to make blankets for AIDS orphans in Africa. I've been knitting away since the meeting, and I'm working on square number five now (four are pictured). I used a combination of new multicolored yarn (which I really like working with) and red and teal yarn leftover from a crochet class I took last summer. I'm super happy with the results, and am glad to know the squares will be put to good use.
